The Cameroon Association of Media Professionals has secured a USD 10,000 grant from Access Now.
Access Now grant is a programme to cultivate partnerships with digital activists and civil society groups.
Its mission amongst others is to develop and promote rights-respecting practices and policies.
The grant awarded according to the agreement signed between CAMP and Access Now will support the production of four short documentaries in the country on access to Internet and Internet Rights.
The documentaries are scheduled to be projected in man cites and online for mass viewership according to the agreement.
According to the National President of CAMP, Tarhyang Enowbikah Tabe, The Project which has been labeled; Blackedout: The Documentary will be very revealing and content rich for its target.
It should be noted that the Cameroon association of media professionals was formed on the 10th of December 2005 and has registration number 20/G.37/G.14/1/VOL8/T/BAPP in conformity with article 7 of law number 90/053 of 19/12/1990 relating to the formation and functioning of associations.
CAMP is specialized in the effective use of the media, mass communication and information technology for Education, Global information dissemination and access for development, Promoting Democracy and good governance, National capacity building, Promoting Community Health, Cultural preservation, Fight against social injustice and Poverty alleviation.
The association has as its main objectives, educating and sensitizing the public through documentaries, public performances, seminars and workshops on valuable issues. Facilitate and improve on the working condition of media professionals in the nation and finally to improve and guarantee solid relationship and solidarity amongst members.
It is registered with headquarters in Limbe and has branches in six of the ten Regions of Cameroon.
