CAMP Holds 17 AGM At Gigantic Gilgal Tower

The Cameroon Association of Media Professionals CAMP last Saturday August 13, 2022 held its 17th Annual General Assembly in Limbe with major resolutions taken to foster the activities of the association.

The General Assembly which took place at the Gilgal Tower Limbe was attended by close to 50 journalists and partners of the association.

Addressing the members, Solomon Agborem, National President of the Cameroon Association of Media Professionals CAMP, praised the members for their massive turn out at the General Assembly. He went on to recall that in only one year six months in office, his executive has been able swirl membership from 15 to 60 spread across eight regions of Cameroon. 

The national president announced that in the days ahead, CAMP will be implementing a grant project by the Canadian Fund for Local Initiative to train 90 journalists on safety and protection while reporting in crisis situation. 

Another project on setting up press clubs in schools funded by the Kumba City Council will also be launched in the days ahead.

 He thanked the national coordinator of the United Action for the Underprivileged Foundation, Hon. Etoke fritz Ngeka for partnering with CAMP in a project to donate back to school materials as well. Members were called upon to stay professional and hope for better days as the next six months of the year will see the implementation of many projects by CAMP.

During the General Assembly some partners of CAMP notably; DIGICOM, Defyhatenow Cameroon and the CEO of CHRDA, Barrister Nkongho Felix Agbor took turns to deliver presentations on how journalist can be safe both online and offline.

Before the official close of the meeting campers were handed safety press jackets to be used during reporting in the field.

These jackets it should be noted were produced with funds from the Cameroon Humanitarian Relief Initiative- CHRI

A guided tour of the 14 storey glass facility, the Gilgal Tower, the tallest building in the city with well furnished apartments, ball room, conference hall, restaurant and a spacious reception was the highpoint for the men and women of the fourth estate.

Campers later went for self care at Hotel Seme Beach to crown the AGM. The rendezvous has been taken for 2023.
