The Cameroon Association of Media Professionals, CAMP, apart from offering media and consultancy services to its partners also joined them in the exercise of keeping the Limbe, Down Beach Front on April 8, 2023 clean.
This according to the Executive Director of CAMP, Tarhyang Enowbikah Tabe, is part of their Corporate Social Responsibility Policy from an environmentally ethical perspective.
CAMP’s major partner, Hotel Seme Beach also joined the main organization CWASAF to clean beach, gathering used waste plastic bottles intended to be used for the building of classrooms and toilets.
Yann Anoko, General Manager of Hotel Seme Beach, an Environmentalist himself took time to drill the students and members in the presence of the press on the need to protect the environment.
He said similar exercises are carried out at his hotel which also has a sea shore similar to the Down Beach Front.
The main organization that has the project is Clean Water And Sanitation Africa (CWASAF) organization.
Speaking on the sidelines of the clean – up, CWASAF representative, Nkeng Joel, said the Beach Clean-Up operation held under the slogan “Save Our Marine Life, Save The Ocean, Save The Planet: Together, We Can Keep Our Oceans Clean and Green”.
He added that the main aim of the clean-up was to improve on the aesthetic view of the beach by reducing/removing waste on the shoreline and also to recover littered plastic bottles which will be used as raw materials to build school classrooms and toilets in the South West Region of Cameroon.
“Creating awareness on the impact of waste on our beach shoreline was also part of the activity, to encourage individuals and businesses to carry out sustainable practices (reduce and reuse) which will have a positive impact on our community and environment,” said CWASAF official Mr. Nkeng Joel.
He explained that the activity was made possible due to the partnership between Hotel Seme Beach, Think Green, Ocean Warriors, Eco Friends and students from the Environmental Science Student Association from the University of Buea.
Joel also thanked the Cameroon Association of Media Professional for the media support and physical presence during the campaign in Limbe.
